Milford Building Supplies Charity Day

Wednesday 30th November 2016

Every year, Milford Building Supplies in Leeds choose a charity to support.

This year they have been supporting Simon on the Streets which focuses on rough sleepers in the Leeds area who don’t get any meaningful support from any other source.

Five of their staff; Jamie Shaw, Robert Green, Wayne Rooke, Dave Lacy and Lee Adair, spent the night sleeping rough open to the elements at The Royal Armouries in Leeds raising an impressive £2,500 towards the charity.

Starting at 9PM that evening they weren’t allowed to exit the premises until 7AM the next morning sporting only the clothes on their back, cardboard and a sleeping bag. Also present at the event were former and current rough sleepers giving their experiences on how the charity have helped them to improve their situations giving us a unique insight into the lives of the rough sleepers of Leeds.

The photo attached shows the five fundraisers presenting the cheque of £2,500 to Sue Oliver, the development manager for Simon on the Streets.
